Antidote is a punk rock band formed in New York City in 1981. The band's original members were guitarist Robb Nunzio and drummer Arthur Ketcham, and they were later joined by vocalist Drew Stone and bassist Jon Dog Williams.
Throughout their career, Antidote has remained a DIY band, self-releasing their music and booking their own shows. Their sound is characterized by aggressive guitar riffs, pounding drums, and politically charged lyrics that often address racism, poverty, and police brutality.
- Their debut EP, Thou Shalt Not Kill, was released in 1983 and quickly gained recognition within the punk scene.
- In 1986, they released their first full-length album, No Peace in Our Time, which continued to showcase their unique sound.
- Despite facing several lineup changes over the years, Antidote has continued to tour and release new material. Their most recent album, The Truth Will Prevail, was released in 2015.
Antidote's legacy within the punk community is significant, with many citing them as an influence on later bands such as Agnostic Front and Sick of It All. They remain active today, continuing to tour and create music that speaks to the struggles faced by marginalized communities.
